Catalonia - P. Reade (bassoon, piano)

£15.00

Catalonia, the first movement of an unrealized bassoon concerto, beautifully captures the essence of the region. Through its distinct contrasting sections, the piece evokes vivid imagery — from the reverberating echoes that traverse the hills to the vibrant energy of a bustling festival, and the serene tranquility of a summer night.

Although sketches exist for two additional movements, they remained incomplete at Paul Reade's passing in 1997. Nonetheless, he expressed satisfaction with this as a single movement, which is presented here in a version for bassoon and piano, edited from Paul's original piano score by Jan Willem Nelleke.
